The short version
MatchMe has no accounts and collects no personal data. Your chosen name and preferences are stored only in your own browser. We cannot identify you.
1. What we store on your device
Your browser stores a randomly generated guest ID, your display name, gender, language and interests (localStorage). This data never leaves your device and can be removed by clearing your browser data for this site.
2. What we see on the server
- Anonymous connection data required to run the service: a temporary socket connection and your random guest ID while chatting. A guest ID cannot be linked to a real identity.
- A public, aggregated counter of how many people are online, searching or chatting.
- Anonymous blocks and reports, stored per device, used only to avoid matching you with the same person again or to count abuse.
3. Advertising
MatchMe is funded by banner ads served by third-party networks (Adsterra). Ads only load after you explicitly accept them in the consent prompt shown on your first visit. If you decline, no ad code runs at all. Ad networks may use cookies or device identifiers to select ads; their practices are governed by their own privacy policies. Ad choices can be controlled via your browser settings.
4. Analytics
We use GoatCounter — a privacy-friendly analytics service with no cookies and no cross-site tracking — to see raw page counts and device types. It does not collect personal data.
5. No cookies for tracking
MatchMe itself sets no tracking cookies. All preference storage is localStorage on your device.
6. Contact
